RANDOM ACCESS CONFUSION AVOIDANCE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18296929 titled 'RANDOM ACCESS CONFUSION AVOIDANCE

The abstract of a patent application describes a user equipment apparatus (UE) that can prepare for timing advance (TA) acquisition and handover to a candidate target cell, identify contention-free random access (CFRA) resources, and use the same or different CFRA resources for TA acquisition and handover.

  • The UE prepares for TA acquisition and handover to a candidate target cell.
  • It identifies CFRA resources for TA acquisition and handover.
  • It uses the same CFRA resource for both TA acquisition and handover if available.
  • If different CFRA resources are available, it uses them accordingly for TA acquisition and handover.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in cellular networks to improve the efficiency of handovers between cells and enhance network performance.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the challenge of efficiently acquiring timing advance and executing handovers in cellular networks.

Benefits: - Improved network performance - Enhanced efficiency in handovers - Better utilization of network resources

Commercial Applications: This technology can be utilized by telecommunications companies to optimize their network operations and provide better service to customers.

Prior Art: Prior research in the field of cellular networks and handover optimization can provide valuable insights into similar technologies.

Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on the latest advancements in cellular network optimization and handover techniques to enhance the performance of this technology.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this technology improve the efficiency of handovers in cellular networks? 2. What are the potential implications of using the same CFRA resource for both TA acquisition and handover in terms of network performance and resource utilization?

Original Abstract Submitted

A user equipment apparatus (UE) includes processor(s) and memory storing instructions. The instructions, when executed by the processor(s), cause the UE to: prepare for timing advance (TA) acquisition for a candidate target cell; prepare for handover to the candidate target cell; identify at least one contention-free random access (CFRA) resource for the TA acquisition and for the handover; in case the CFRA resource(s) include a same CFRA resource for the TA acquisition and for the handover, use the same CFRA resource for the TA acquisition and for the handover; and in case the CFRA resource(s) include a first CFRA resource for the TA acquisition and a second CFRA resource for the handover, use the first CFRA resource for the TA acquisition for the candidate target cell and use the second CFRA resource for the handover to the candidate target cell.
