REPORTING OF BEAM SWEEP RECONFIGURATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18293917 titled 'REPORTING OF BEAM SWEEP RECONFIGURATION

The abstract describes a method for operating a Distributed Unit (DU) of a wireless communications network to address RACH configuration conflicts in cells served by the DU.

  • Detecting a RACH configuration conflict in a cell where SSBs with different SSB indices are transmitted using multiple spatial beams.
  • Changing the beam sweeping timing of the cell in response to the conflict.
  • Signalling the new beam sweeping timing to a Central Unit (CU) of the network node, including indicating which SSBs are affected by the change.

Potential Applications: - Improving the efficiency and reliability of wireless communications networks. - Enhancing the performance of cells served by Distributed Units.

Problems Solved: - Resolving RACH configuration conflicts in cells with multiple spatial beams. - Optimizing beam sweeping timing for better network operation.

Benefits: - Minimizing interference and improving network performance. - Enhancing overall network reliability and efficiency.

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Wireless Network Operation with Dynamic Beam Sweeping Timing This technology could be valuable for telecommunications companies, network equipment manufacturers, and providers of wireless services. It can lead to more robust and efficient wireless networks, potentially attracting more customers and increasing revenue.

Prior Art: Readers interested in exploring prior art related to this technology may want to investigate patents or research papers on beamforming techniques, RACH configuration management, and network optimization in wireless communications systems.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers in the field of wireless communications may be conducting studies on dynamic beam sweeping timing, interference mitigation strategies, and network optimization algorithms. Staying informed about these developments can help enhance the effectiveness of this technology.

Questions about the Technology: 1. How does the method for changing beam sweeping timing improve network performance? - The method helps to resolve conflicts and optimize the timing of spatial beams, reducing interference and enhancing overall network efficiency.

2. What are the key benefits of signalling the new beam sweeping timing to the Central Unit? - Signalling the new timing allows for coordinated network adjustments and ensures that the CU is aware of the changes to maintain network stability and performance.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method of operating a DU of a network node of a wireless communications network includes detecting a RACH configuration conflict for a cell served by the DU in which SSBs having different SSB indices are transmitted using a plurality of spatial beams according to a beam sweeping timing, changing the beam sweeping timing of the cell from an original beam sweeping timing to a new beam sweeping timing in response to detecting the RACH conflict, and signalling the new beam sweeping timing to a CU of the network node. Signalling the new beam sweeping timing to the CU includes signalling to the CU an indication of SSBs affected by the changing of the beam sweeping timing.
