USER EQUIPMENTS AND COMMUNICATION METHODS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18293822 titled 'USER EQUIPMENTS AND COMMUNICATION METHODS
The abstract describes a user equipment (UE) with a control unit that can choose between a 4-step RA procedure and a 2-step RA procedure based on the UL BWP configuration with RA resources for a specific feature.
- The UE control unit selects a RA type based on the presence of RA resources in the UL BWP.
- If both 2-step and 4-step RA resources are available, the selection is further based on RSRP.
- If only 4-step RA resources are present, the UE selects the 4-step RA procedure.
- If only 2-step RA resources are present, the UE selects the 2-step RA procedure.
Potential Applications: - Mobile communication systems - Wireless networks - Internet of Things (IoT) devices
Problems Solved: - Efficient resource allocation for random access procedures - Optimal selection of RA type based on available resources
Benefits: - Improved network performance - Enhanced user experience - Efficient utilization of resources
Commercial Applications: Title: "Optimized Random Access Procedure Selection in Wireless Networks" This technology can be used in telecommunications companies to enhance network efficiency and improve user experience. It can also be applied in IoT devices to ensure reliable connectivity.
Questions about the technology: 1. How does the UE control unit determine the optimal RA type selection? - The UE control unit considers the availability of RA resources in the UL BWP and the RSRP to make the selection. 2. What are the key advantages of using a 4-step RA procedure over a 2-step RA procedure? - The 4-step RA procedure allows for more detailed communication between the UE and the network, leading to better resource allocation and network performance.
Original Abstract Submitted
A user equipment (UE) is described. The UE may comprise control unit configured to select a RA type between a 4-step RA procedure and a 2-step RA procedure based on whether the UL BWP is further configured with RA resources used for the feature, wherein in a case that the UL BWP is configured with both a second 2-step RA type RA resources and a second 4-step RA type RA resources that are used for the feature, to select the RA type further based on a RSRP of downlink pathloss reference in a case that the UL BWP is not configured with the second 2-step RA type RA resources and the second 4-step RA type RA resources, to select the RA type further based on the RSRP, in a case that the UL BWP is configured with the second 4-step RA type RA resources and not configured with the second 2-step RA type RA resources, to select the 4-step RA procedure, and in a case that the UL BWP is configured with the second 2-step RA type RA resources and not configured with the second 4-step RA type RA resources, to select the 2-step RA procedure.
