SURGICAL SYSTEM, CONTROL METHOD, AND PROGRAM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18293382 titled 'SURGICAL SYSTEM, CONTROL METHOD, AND PROGRAM

The present technology involves a surgical system that allows for the appropriate setting of a region-of-interest for an operator.

  • The system performs segmentation of an image captured by a camera and sets a segmentation region where each target is displayed.
  • It acquires a region-of-interest candidate, which is a potential region of interest for the operator.
  • The system sets the region-of-interest based on the relationship between the segmentation region and the region-of-interest candidate.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be applied to surgical systems using endoscopes. - It can enhance the precision and efficiency of surgical procedures by enabling operators to focus on specific regions of interest.

Problems Solved: - Helps in accurately setting the region-of-interest for operators during surgical procedures. - Improves the overall performance and outcomes of surgical systems.

Benefits: - Enhances the operator's ability to focus on specific targets during surgery. - Increases the accuracy and efficiency of surgical procedures. - Improves patient outcomes and overall surgical experience.

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Surgical System with Region-of-Interest Setting This technology can be utilized in hospitals, surgical centers, and medical facilities to improve the precision and effectiveness of surgical procedures. It can also be integrated into medical device manufacturing for the development of advanced surgical systems.

Prior Art: Readers can explore academic journals, patent databases, and medical technology conferences for prior art related to region-of-interest setting in surgical systems.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers are constantly working on improving the segmentation algorithms and region-of-interest setting techniques in surgical systems. Stay updated on the latest advancements in medical imaging and surgical technology.

Questions about Surgical Systems with Region-of-Interest Setting: 1. How does the segmentation process work in setting the region-of-interest for operators? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this technology in different types of surgical procedures?

Original Abstract Submitted

The present technology relates to a surgical system, a control method, and a program that enable a region-of-interest of an operator to be appropriately set. The surgical system according to one aspect of the present technology performs segmentation of an image captured by a camera and sets a segmentation region in which each target is displayed, acquires a region-of-interest candidate that is a region to be a candidate for a region-of-interest of an operator, and sets the region-of-interest on the basis of a relationship between the segmentation region and the region-of-interest candidate. The present technology can be applied to a surgical system using an endoscope.
