SUPPORTING COMPATIBILITY - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18286733 titled 'SUPPORTING COMPATIBILITY

The abstract describes a method performed by a service consumer, involving invoking a service provided by a first service producer by generating and transmitting a service request message.

  • The method includes generating a service request message.
  • The service request message is transmitted to the first service producer.
  • The message transmitted includes a header and a body.
  • The header contains service consumer information such as feature information and version information.
  • Feature information identifies features of a service provided by a second service producer.
  • Version information identifies versions of an API for the service provided by the second service producer.

Potential Applications: - This method can be applied in various service-oriented systems to facilitate communication between service consumers and producers. - It can be used in cloud computing environments to streamline service requests and responses.

Problems Solved: - Simplifies the process of invoking services from different service producers. - Enhances communication between service consumers and producers by including relevant information in the message header.

Benefits: - Improved efficiency in service invocation processes. - Enhanced compatibility between service consumers and producers. - Facilitates seamless integration of services in complex systems.

Commercial Applications: - This technology can be utilized in enterprise software systems to improve service interactions. - It can be integrated into IoT platforms to enhance communication between devices and services.

Prior Art: - Researchers can explore existing literature on service invocation methods and communication protocols in service-oriented architectures.

Frequently Updated Research: - Stay updated on advancements in service communication protocols and standards to enhance the efficiency of service interactions.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this method improve the communication between service consumers and producers? 2. What are the key benefits of including feature and version information in the service request message?

Original Abstract Submitted

A method () performed by a service consumer. The method includes invoking a service provided by a first service producer. Invoking the service comprises generating a service request message and transmitting the service request message to the first service producer. In some embodiments, transmitting the service request message to the first service producer comprises transmitting, to the first service producer, a message comprising a header and a body, the body comprising the service request message and the header comprising service consumer information comprising: i) first feature information that identifies a set of one or more features of a service that is provided by a second service producer and that is supported by the service consumer, and/or ii) first version information that identifies set of one or more versions of an application programming interface (API) for the service provided by the second service producer that is supported by the service consumer.
