INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE AND INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18286723 titled 'INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE AND INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD

The patent application describes an information processing device that uses facial authentication to allow individuals to pass through a gate.

  • Acquisition unit captures an image of a person entering the gate from the exit to the entrance.
  • Processing unit conducts a second facial authentication process in a different area between the exit and the entrance for individuals who have already passed the first authentication process.
  • Output unit confirms the person has successfully passed through the gate if both facial authentication processes match.

Potential Applications: - Security systems at airports, train stations, and other transportation hubs. - Access control in office buildings, government facilities, and other secure locations.

Problems Solved: - Enhances security by using facial recognition technology. - Streamlines the authentication process for individuals passing through a gate.

Benefits: - Improved security measures. - Efficient and convenient access control. - Reduced risk of unauthorized entry.

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Facial Authentication System for Secure Access Control This technology can be utilized in various industries such as transportation, government, and corporate sectors to enhance security and streamline access control processes.

Prior Art: Researchers can explore existing patents related to facial recognition technology, gate access control systems, and security authentication methods.

Original Abstract Submitted

An information processing device comprises: an acquisition unit that acquires an image which includes a facial image region and in which an image of a person who goes into a gate is captured from the direction from the exit to the entrance; a processing unit that performs a second facial authentication process for a person for whom a first facial authentication process has been successful, the first facial authentication process being based on a first image captured in a first area, and the second facial authentication process being based on a second image captured in a second area between the exit of the gate and the first area; and an output unit that, when the person for whom the first facial authentication process has been successful and a person in the second image are determined to be identical, outputs that the person has passed through the gate.
