PHYSICAL PROPERTY MAP IMAGE GENERATION APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18282381 titled 'PHYSICAL PROPERTY MAP IMAGE GENERATION APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an apparatus for generating a physical property map image based on physical property information of a material. Here is a simplified explanation of the patent application:

  • The apparatus acquires physical property information for each pattern of a material.
  • It generates a self-organizing map and a physical property map image based on the acquired information.
  • Each node on the self-organizing map is assigned a position in a map space and a physical property vector indicating a value related to a physical property quantity for each type of physical properties of the product.
  • The physical property map image represents each node with a color assigned to that node, based on the physical property vector.
  • The color components of the assigned color are determined based on the physical property vector for the corresponding physical property.

Potential Applications: - Material science research - Quality control in manufacturing processes - Product development in various industries

Problems Solved: - Efficient visualization of physical property data - Improved understanding of material characteristics - Streamlined analysis of product properties

Benefits: - Enhanced decision-making in product development - Increased efficiency in material testing - Improved communication of physical property information

Potential Commercial Applications:

      1. Optimizing Material Properties Visualization for Enhanced Product Development

Possible Prior Art: There are existing technologies for visualizing physical property data, such as data visualization software and mapping tools. However, the specific method described in this patent application may offer unique advantages in terms of color representation and organization of physical property information.

Unanswered Questions:

      1. How does the apparatus handle large datasets of physical property information?

The patent application does not provide details on the scalability of the apparatus for processing extensive amounts of data.

      1. Are there any limitations in terms of the types of physical properties that can be represented in the physical property map image?

The patent application does not specify if there are constraints on the range or types of physical properties that can be visualized using this apparatus.

Original Abstract Submitted

A physical property map image generation apparatus performs: acquiring, for each pattern of a material, physical property information indicating a physical property quantity for each physical property of a product; and generating a self-organizing map and a physical property map image. A position in a map space and a physical property vector indicating a value related to a physical property quantity for each type of physical properties of the product are assigned to each node on the self-organizing map. On the physical property map image , each of the nodes arranged in the map space is represented by a color assigned to that node. For each node, each of two or three base color components of a color assigned to the node is determined based on a value that a physical property vector assigned to that node indicates for a physical property corresponding to that base color.
