INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, PROGRAM, AND IMAGING SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18280109 titled 'INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, PROGRAM, AND IMAGING SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a system for detecting luminance changes in pixels of an imaging unit to identify events, with the ability to adjust the position of the optical image to detect events in non-detection regions.

  • Event detection unit detects luminance changes in pixels exceeding a preset threshold value.
  • Determination unit decides if no event is detected based on event detection information.
  • Movement control unit adjusts the position of the optical image to detect events in non-detection regions.
  • Event information generation unit creates event information with event detection and movement information.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in surveillance systems, security cameras, and image processing applications where event detection and tracking are essential.

Problems Solved

This innovation solves the issue of limited event detection range in imaging units by adjusting the position of the optical image to cover a wider area.

Benefits

The system provides more comprehensive event information, improves surveillance capabilities, and enhances overall image processing efficiency.

Potential Commercial Applications

Commercial applications include security systems, traffic monitoring, industrial automation, and any other field requiring accurate event detection and tracking capabilities.

Possible Prior Art

Prior art may include similar systems for event detection in imaging units, but the specific method of adjusting the position of the optical image for wider event detection range may be unique to this patent application.

What is the impact of this technology on surveillance systems?

This technology can significantly enhance the effectiveness of surveillance systems by improving event detection capabilities and expanding the coverage area for monitoring.

How does this innovation compare to existing event detection systems?

This innovation stands out by its ability to dynamically adjust the position of the optical image for improved event detection in non-detection regions, providing a more comprehensive solution compared to traditional event detection systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

An event detection unit detects, as an event, that a luminance change of a pixel in an imaging unit that photoelectrically converts an optical image indicating a subject exceeds a preset threshold value. A determination unit of an information processing unit - determines whether no event is detected on the basis of event detection information indicating a detection result of the event generated by the event detection unit . In a case where no event is detected by the determination unit , a movement control unit moves a position of the optical image indicating the subject in an imaging unit of the event detection unit so that an event can be detected in an event non-detection region. An event information generation unit generates event information including the event detection information and movement information regarding movement of the position of the optical image. Therefore, it is possible to acquire event information indicating an event detection result for a wider region than before.
