REFORM PIN - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18278742 titled 'REFORM PIN

Simplified Explanation

The reform pin in this patent application has a thicker end on the head portion to reduce contact with the inner surface of an electrode assembly, making it easier to remove without lifting the separation membrane. The head portion is also inclined to one side for easy insertion without causing lifting of the separation membrane.

  • The reform pin has a thicker end on the head portion to reduce contact with the inner surface of an electrode assembly.
  • The head portion is inclined to one side for easy insertion without lifting the separation membrane.

Questions about Reform Pins

Question 1

How does the thicker end of the head portion of the reform pin help in reducing contact with the inner surface of the electrode assembly?

The thicker end of the head portion creates a smaller contact surface, minimizing the chances of the reform pin lifting the separation membrane when being removed from the electrode assembly.

Question 2

What industries can benefit the most from the use of these enhanced reform pins?

Various industries such as battery manufacturing, electronics assembly, and medical device production can benefit from the improved stability and reliability offered by these reform pins.

Original Abstract Submitted

A reform pin is provided in which one end of a head portion extending from a body portion is provided thicker than the body portion, so that a contact surface with an inner surface of an electrode assembly is reduced when an inserted reform pin is removed from the electrode assembly, thereby stably removing the reform pin without lifting of a separation membrane. In addition, a vertex of the head portion is formed to be inclined to one side, such that it is possible to provide a high-performance and highly reliable reform pin that may be easily inserted while avoiding the separation membrane in which a lifting phenomenon occurs when the reform pin is inserted into the hollow portion of the electrode assembly.
