SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LAUNCHING AND REPLACING APPLICATIONS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18269224 titled 'SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LAUNCHING AND REPLACING APPLICATIONS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a patent application related to selecting and launching applications in a three-dimensional environment. The application allows for different types of selection inputs to choose a representation in the environment. When a representation is selected, the corresponding application is launched in the three-dimensional environment based on the type of selection received. The launch of the application can determine whether previously launched applications continue to be displayed or cease to be displayed in the environment.

  • The patent application focuses on selecting and launching applications in a three-dimensional environment.
  • Different types of selection inputs can be used to choose a representation in the environment.
  • The selected representation launches the corresponding application in the three-dimensional environment.
  • The manner in which the application is launched determines the display status of previously launched applications in the environment.

Potential Applications:

  • Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) environments where users can select and launch applications in a three-dimensional space.
  • Gaming platforms that utilize three-dimensional environments and allow for interactive application selection and launching.
  • Productivity tools that provide a three-dimensional workspace where users can select and launch different applications.

Problems Solved:

  • Simplifies the process of selecting and launching applications in a three-dimensional environment.
  • Provides a more immersive and interactive way of accessing applications in VR and AR environments.
  • Allows for efficient management of multiple applications in a three-dimensional workspace.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced user experience in three-dimensional environments by providing intuitive selection and launching methods.
  • Improved productivity and efficiency in accessing and managing applications within a three-dimensional workspace.
  • Enables seamless integration of applications in VR and AR environments, enhancing the overall user workflow.

Original Abstract Submitted

A representation displayed in a three-dimensional environment may be selected with different types of selection inputs. When a representation displayed in the three-dimensional environment is selected, an application corresponding to the representation may be launched in the three-dimensional environment in accordance with the type of selection received. In such embodiments, when the representation is selected with a first type of selection, the application corresponding to the selected representation may be launched in a first manner, and when the representation is selected with a second type of selection, the application corresponding to the selected representation may be launched in a second manner. In some embodiments, the manner in which the application is launched may determine whether one or more previously launched applications continue to be displayed or cease to be displayed in the three-dimensional environment.
