METHOD AND DEVICE FOR REPORTING MOBILITY HISTORY INFORMATION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18268846 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR REPORTING MOBILITY HISTORY INFORMATION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure is about a communication system that supports higher data transmission rates than 4G systems. It specifically focuses on a method for user equipment to perform event-based logging in a wireless communication system.

  • User equipment is in an RRC idle state or an RRC inactive state and confirms that a suitable cell cannot be found.
  • User equipment confirms that the RPLMN (Registered Public Land Mobile Network) is included in a PLMN ID list when a suitable cell could not be found.
  • User equipment logs the global cell ID of the most recently camped suitable cell as a serving cell ID.
  • User equipment logs the measurement result of the most recently camped suitable cell.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This technology can be used in 5G or pre-5G communication systems to support higher data transmission rates.
  • It can improve the efficiency and reliability of wireless communication by allowing user equipment to log information about suitable cells.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The method solves the problem of user equipment not being able to find a suitable or acceptable cell in an RRC idle or inactive state.
  • It addresses the issue of user equipment not being able to log information about suitable cells when they are not available.

Benefits of this technology:

  • The method allows user equipment to log information about suitable cells, which can be useful for network optimization and troubleshooting.
  • It enables better network selection and handover decisions by providing detailed measurement results of suitable cells.
  • The technology improves the overall performance and user experience of wireless communication systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure relates to a 5G or pre-5G communication system for supporting higher data transmission rates than 4G systems such as LTE. A method for a user equipment to perform event-based logging in a wireless communication system according to an embodiment of the present disclosure comprises the steps in which the user equipment is in an RRC idle state (RRC_IDLE) or an RRC inactive state (RRC_INACTIVE) and confirms that a suitable or acceptable cell cannot be found, the user equipment confirms that the RPLMN when the suitable or acceptable cell could not be found is included in a PLMN ID list, the user equipment logs a serving cell ID that indicates a global cell ID of the suitable cell on which the user equipment most recently camped, and the user equipment logs a measurement result of the suitable cell on which the user equipment most recently camped.
