BEAM FAILURE DETECTION EVALUATION ON TWO TRANSMISSION CONFIGURATION INDICATOR STATES - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18264533 titled 'BEAM FAILURE DETECTION EVALUATION ON TWO TRANSMISSION CONFIGURATION INDICATOR STATES
Simplified Explanation
The present disclosure relates to wireless communication and specifically to monitoring for beam failure in user equipment (UE). The UE monitors for a first beam failure detection (BFD) reference signal (RS) and a second BFD RS, where the first BFD RS is associated with a first transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state and the second BFD RS is associated with a second TCI state. The first and second BFD RS are associated with one or more physical downlink control channels (PDCCHs). The UE determines whether a beam failure has occurred with the one or more PDCCHs based on the result of monitoring for the first and second BFD RS.
- User equipment (UE) monitors for beam failure detection (BFD) reference signals (RS).
- The first BFD RS is associated with a first transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state.
- The second BFD RS is associated with a second TCI state.
- The first and second BFD RS are associated with one or more physical downlink control channels (PDCCHs).
- UE determines beam failure based on monitoring the first and second BFD RS.
Potential applications of this technology:
- Wireless communication systems
- Mobile devices and smartphones
- Network infrastructure and base stations
Problems solved by this technology:
- Detection of beam failure in wireless communication systems
- Ensuring reliable and efficient communication between UE and network infrastructure
Benefits of this technology:
- Improved reliability of wireless communication
- Enhanced performance and efficiency of network infrastructure
- Better user experience with mobile devices and smartphones
Original Abstract Submitted
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may monitor for a first beam failure detection (BFD) reference signal (RS) and a second BFD RS, wherein the first BFD RS is associated with a first transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state and the second BFD RS is associated with a second TCI state, and wherein the first BFD RS and the second BFD RS are associated with one or more physical downlink control channels (PDCCHs). The UE may determine whether a beam failure has occurred with the one or more PDCCHs based at least in part on a result of monitoring for the first BFD RS and the second BFD RS. Numerous other aspects are described.
