DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18258214 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

The abstract of the patent application describes a display device with a base portion containing a display area, a light emitting element, an encapsulation layer, and a wavelength conversion pattern.

  • The display device has a base portion with a display area that includes both emission and non-emission areas.
  • A light emitting element is positioned on the base portion, overlapping the emission area.
  • An encapsulation layer is present, consisting of a lower inorganic layer and an organic layer.
  • A wavelength conversion pattern is placed on the encapsulation layer, overlapping the light emitting element.
  • The organic layer has an opening that aligns with the emission area, allowing the wavelength conversion pattern to be within this opening.

Potential Applications: - This technology could be used in the development of high-quality display screens for electronic devices. - It may find applications in the lighting industry for creating efficient and customizable lighting solutions.

Problems Solved: - The technology addresses the need for improved display devices with enhanced light emission capabilities. - It solves the challenge of integrating wavelength conversion patterns effectively in display devices.

Benefits: - Enhanced display quality with improved light emission. - Customizable lighting solutions for various applications.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the wavelength conversion pattern enhance the performance of the display device?

  - The wavelength conversion pattern helps improve the color accuracy and brightness of the display by converting light to different wavelengths effectively.

2. What are the potential cost implications of implementing this technology in commercial products?

  - The cost implications may vary depending on the scale of production and the specific requirements of the end product. However, the long-term benefits of improved display quality and energy efficiency could outweigh the initial investment.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device includes a base portion including a display area in which a first emission area and a non-emission area are defined, a first light emitting element disposed on the base portion and overlapping the first emission area, a first encapsulation layer including a first lower inorganic layer disposed on the first light emitting element and a first organic layer located on the first lower inorganic layer, and a wavelength conversion pattern disposed on the first encapsulation layer and overlapping the first light emitting element. A first opening overlapping the first emission area is defined in the first organic layer, and the wavelength conversion pattern is disposed within the first opening.
