ADVANCED VIDEO EDITING TECHNIQUES USING SAMPLING PATTERNS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18243487 titled 'ADVANCED VIDEO EDITING TECHNIQUES USING SAMPLING PATTERNS
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a system and method for advanced video editing using sampling patterns. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:
- The system allows a user to select a clip from a video and a sampling pattern.
- The system determines the number of frames to sample from the clip for each interval of time over a specified length of time.
- Different approaches can be used to determine the number of frames, such as a function, histogram, or definite integral corresponding to the pattern.
- The system extracts the determined number of frames from the clip and generates a new clip using these frames.
- The new clip can be previewed and shared with other devices.
Potential applications of this technology:
- Professional video editing software and tools
- Social media platforms with video editing features
- Online video sharing platforms
- Video production companies and studios
Problems solved by this technology:
- Simplifies the process of video editing by automating the selection and extraction of frames based on a sampling pattern.
- Allows for more efficient editing by reducing the number of frames to be processed and analyzed.
- Provides a consistent and reproducible method for sampling frames from a video clip.
Benefits of this technology:
- Saves time and effort in video editing tasks.
- Enables users to create visually appealing and engaging video clips.
- Facilitates collaboration and sharing of edited video clips across different devices and platforms.
Original Abstract Submitted
Systems and methods provide for advanced video editing techniques using sampling patterns. In one example, a computing device can receive a selection of a clip of a video and a sampling pattern. The computing device can determine a respective number of frames to sample from the clip for each interval of time over a length of time for a new clip. For example, the computing device can determine a function corresponding the pattern that relates time and the number of frames to sample, a histogram corresponding to the pattern, or a definite integral corresponding to the pattern, among other approaches. The computing device can extract these numbers of frames from the clip and generate the new clip from the extracted frames. The computing device can present the new clip as a preview and send the new clip to other computing devices.
