DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF FABRICATING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18242135 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF FABRICATING THE SAME

The abstract describes a display device with light emitting elements on the front and corner portions of a substrate, each element consisting of electrodes, a light emitting layer, and encapsulating layers.

  • Substrate with front, side, and corner portions
  • Light emitting elements on front and corner portions
  • Each element has electrodes, light emitting layer, and encapsulating layers
  • Encapsulating layers include inorganic and organic layers

Potential Applications: - Display screens - Lighting fixtures - Signage

Problems Solved: - Enhanced brightness and color accuracy - Improved durability and longevity of display devices

Benefits: - Higher quality display output - Longer lifespan of display devices - Energy efficiency due to improved technology

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Display Technology for Enhanced Visual Experiences This technology can be used in: - Consumer electronics - Automotive displays - Public signage

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the inclusion of encapsulating layers improve the performance of the display device?

Encapsulating layers protect the light emitting elements from external factors, ensuring longevity and stability.

2. What are the potential cost implications of implementing this technology in commercial products?

While initial costs may be higher, the long-term benefits of improved performance and durability can outweigh the initial investment.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device including a substrate having a front portion, a first side portion, a second side portion, and a corner portion disposed between the first side portion and the second side portion, a plurality of light emitting elements disposed on the front portion and the corner portion and each of the plurality of light emitting elements including a first electrode, a light emitting layer and a second electrode, a first encapsulating inorganic layer disposed on the second electrode and the corner portion, a first encapsulating organic layer disposed on the first encapsulating inorganic layer and the corner portion, a second encapsulating inorganic layer disposed on the first encapsulating organic layer and the corner portion, and a second encapsulating organic layer disposed between the second electrode and the first encapsulating inorganic layer.
