Server And Control Method Thereof - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18231481 titled 'Server And Control Method Thereof
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a server system that controls a charger to optimize profit by adjusting electricity charging costs based on the state of charge of a vehicle and the required state of charge.
- The server includes a transceiver to communicate with a charger and a controller to determine the required state of charge of a vehicle and control the charger to maximize profit.
- The controller adjusts electricity charging costs over periods to ensure that the charging cost at the start time of a period is lower than a constant cost over that period, gradually increasing the cost over time.
Potential Applications
This technology could be applied in electric vehicle charging stations, fleet management systems, and smart grid infrastructure.
Problems Solved
This technology addresses the challenge of optimizing charging schedules to maximize profit while ensuring efficient use of electricity and maintaining vehicle state of charge.
Benefits
The benefits of this technology include increased profitability for charging station operators, reduced electricity costs, and improved management of electric vehicle charging.
Potential Commercial Applications
One potential commercial application of this technology is in electric vehicle charging networks, where operators can use the system to optimize charging schedules and maximize revenue.
Possible Prior Art
Prior art in this field may include smart grid systems, energy management software, and electric vehicle charging optimization technologies.
Unanswered Questions
How does the system handle unexpected changes in vehicle state of charge?
The system may need to have mechanisms in place to adapt to sudden changes in the state of charge of a vehicle to ensure optimal charging schedules and profitability.
What data security measures are in place to protect the system from cyber threats?
It is important to consider the security of the system to prevent unauthorized access or manipulation of charging schedules and electricity costs.
Original Abstract Submitted
A server may include a transceiver configured to communicate with a charger, and a controller configured to determine, based on state information of a vehicle, a required state of charge (SoC), control, based on charging and discharging from an SoC of the vehicle to the required SoC and electricity charging costs over periods, the charger to increase (e.g., maximize) an expected profit, and while controlling the charger, adjust the electricity charging costs over the periods so that a first electricity charging cost at a start time of a first period of the periods is lower than a constant electricity charging cost over the first period, and the first electricity charging cost is gradually (e.g., linearly) increased over the first period.
