DISPLAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18223854 titled 'DISPLAY APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display apparatus that includes a circuit board with a driving circuit and a pixel array. The pixel array consists of pixels, each of which has multiple sub-pixels. The pixel array also includes a semiconductor stack, a conductive partition structure, and wavelength conversion portions.

  • The semiconductor stack is made up of LED cells that form the sub-pixels. Each LED cell includes an active layer and a second conductivity-type semiconductor layer.
  • The conductive partition structure is placed between the sub-pixel spaces and overlaps the LED cells on the semiconductor stack. It serves as a first electrode.
  • The wavelength conversion portions are located on the sub-pixel spaces.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • High-resolution displays: The use of multiple sub-pixels allows for increased pixel density and improved image quality.
  • Color accuracy: The wavelength conversion portions can enhance the color reproduction capabilities of the display.
  • Energy efficiency: The LED cells and conductive partition structure can help optimize power consumption.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Improved image quality: The use of sub-pixels and wavelength conversion portions can result in sharper and more vibrant images.
  • Enhanced color reproduction: The wavelength conversion portions enable accurate and vivid color representation.
  • Power optimization: The design of the LED cells and conductive partition structure helps reduce energy consumption.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Higher resolution and image quality: The display apparatus can provide sharper and more detailed visuals.
  • Accurate and vibrant colors: The wavelength conversion portions contribute to improved color reproduction.
  • Energy-efficient operation: The design features of the LED cells and conductive partition structure help conserve power.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display apparatus includes: a circuit board including a driving circuit; and a pixel array disposed on the circuit board and including pixels, each of the pixels having a plurality of sub-pixels. The pixel array includes: a semiconductor stack, a conductive partition structure and wavelength conversion portions. The semiconductor stack includes LED cells respectively constituting the plurality of sub-pixels. Each of the LED cells includes at least an active layer and a second conductivity-type semiconductor layer. The conductive partition structure is provided between sub-pixel spaces, respectively overlaps the LED cells on the semiconductor stack, and is provided as a first electrode. The wavelength conversion portions are respectively disposed on the sub-pixel spaces.
