ELECTRONIC DEVICE CAPABLE OF WIRELESS POWER CONTROL AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18223310 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE CAPABLE OF WIRELESS POWER CONTROL AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an electronic device with a transceiver that can transmit and receive wireless signals. The device includes a processor that controls a measurement circuit to identify the transmission/reception power ratio of the signal. It also controls a converter to transform this ratio into frequency domain data, detects the presence of an object near the device based on this data and an adjustable threshold, and controls the transceiver based on whether an object is detected.

  • The electronic device has a transceiver for wireless signal transmission and reception.
  • A processor controls a measurement circuit to determine the transmission/reception power ratio.
  • The processor also controls a converter to convert the power ratio into frequency domain data.
  • The device can detect the presence of an object near it based on the frequency domain data and a threshold.
  • The transceiver is controlled based on whether an object is detected near the device.
      1. Potential Applications
  • Smart home devices for presence detection
  • Industrial automation for object proximity sensing

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes: a transceiver configured to transmit and receive a wireless signal; and a processor configured to: control a measurement circuit to identify a transmission/reception power ratio of the wireless signal; control a converter to transform the transmission/reception power ratio into frequency domain data; detect whether an object is adjacent the electronic device, based on the frequency domain data and an adjustable threshold; and control the transceiver based on whether the object is detected adjacent the electronic device.
