WAKE-UP SEQUENCE CALIBRATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18189241 titled 'WAKE-UP SEQUENCE CALIBRATION

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a system and method for calibrating a wake-up sequence for a user by determining when the user is asleep, activating stimulus mechanisms for a set period of time in a test wake-up sequence, and adjusting the wake-up sequence based on the user's response.

  • **Determining user's sleep status:** The system uses sensor data to determine if the user is asleep.
  • **Activating stimulus mechanisms:** Upon a wake-up condition, one or more stimulus mechanisms are activated for a set period of time in a test wake-up sequence.
  • **User response:** Additional sensor data is used to determine when the user wakes up during the test wake-up sequence.
  • **Calibrating wake-up sequence:** The system compares the elapsed time of the stimulus mechanisms to a threshold time and adjusts the wake-up sequence accordingly.

Potential Applications: 1. Sleep monitoring devices 2. Smart alarm clocks 3. Wearable technology for sleep tracking

Problems Solved: 1. Ensuring users wake up at the desired time 2. Personalizing wake-up sequences based on individual responses

Benefits: 1. Improved wake-up experience 2. Enhanced sleep tracking accuracy

Commercial Applications: The technology can be used in smart devices such as fitness trackers, smartwatches, and sleep monitoring systems to provide users with a more personalized and effective wake-up experience.

Questions about Wake-Up Sequence Calibration: 1. How does the system determine when the user is asleep? 2. What types of stimulus mechanisms can be activated in the wake-up sequence?

Frequently Updated Research: Research on sleep patterns and the effectiveness of different stimulus mechanisms in waking up users could provide valuable insights for further improving the calibration of wake-up sequences.

Original Abstract Submitted

A system and a method for calibrating a wake-up sequence for a user includes determining that the user is asleep based upon sensor data, activating one or more stimulus mechanisms for a set period of time in a test wake-up sequence upon occurrence of a wake-up condition, determining an elapsed time within the set period of time of the one or more stimulus mechanisms being activated in the test wake-up sequence at which the user wakes from sleep based on additional sensor data, comparing the elapsed time to a threshold time indicative of a sufficient wake-up time, and determining a calibrated wake-up sequence including the one or more stimulus mechanisms having elapsed times below the threshold time.
