CHOPPER-STABILIZED AMPLIFIER - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18185441 titled 'CHOPPER-STABILIZED AMPLIFIER

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a high-voltage chopper-stabilized amplifier with two paths to compensate for non-ideal electrical parameters. One path includes a mux interface circuit to limit voltages at the primary input, while the other path includes a chopper amplifier circuit to address signal source issues during slew conditions.

  • The amplifier has two paths for compensation of non-ideal electrical parameters.
  • The first path includes a mux interface circuit to limit voltages at the primary input.
  • The second path features a chopper amplifier circuit to address signal source issues during slew conditions.
  • A second mux interface circuit decouples the second path during slew conditions to prevent negative effects on the signal source.
  • A settling enhancer circuit maintains certain nodes on the second path at a reference voltage during slew conditions.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in high-voltage amplification systems where precise signal processing is required. It can be used in industrial automation, medical devices, and scientific instruments.

Problems Solved: The technology addresses issues related to non-ideal electrical parameters in high-voltage amplifiers, particularly during slew conditions. It ensures stable and accurate signal processing without negatively impacting the signal source.

Benefits: - Improved stability and accuracy in high-voltage amplification systems - Enhanced signal processing during challenging electrical conditions - Prevention of negative effects on the signal source - Increased reliability and performance of the amplifier

Commercial Applications: Title: High-Voltage Chopper-Stabilized Amplifier for Precision Signal Processing This technology can be commercially utilized in industries such as industrial automation, medical equipment manufacturing, and scientific instrument development. It offers a reliable solution for high-voltage signal processing requirements, ensuring accurate and stable amplification in various applications.

Questions about High-Voltage Chopper-Stabilized Amplifier: 1. How does the settling enhancer circuit contribute to maintaining stability during slew conditions? 2. What are the key differences between the first and second paths in compensating for non-ideal electrical parameters?

Original Abstract Submitted

A high-voltage chopper-stabilized amplifier can include two paths to compensate for non-ideal electrical parameters. A first path, leading to a primary input of the amplifier, may include a first mux interface circuit to limit voltages at the primary input of the amplifier. A second path, leading to an auxiliary input of the amplifier, may include a chopper amplifier circuit. Despite the first mux interface circuit, a slew condition on the first path may excite a current in the second path that can negatively affect the signal source. Accordingly, the disclosed amplifier further includes a second mux interface circuit that can decouple the second path while a slew condition. The second mux interface circuit is driven by a window floating comparator, which is supplied according to the voltages on primary input. A settling enhancer circuit keeps, during slew condition, certain nodes on the second path at a reference voltage.
