AIRCRAFT CONGESTION REDUCTION AT AIRPORT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18183436 titled 'AIRCRAFT CONGESTION REDUCTION AT AIRPORT

The system described in the patent application aims to reduce aircraft congestion on the ground at airports by utilizing a database, a computer, and a transmitter.

  • The database stores data collected over at least a year at the airport.
  • The computer trains a machine learning model using the collected data, receives input data approximating the current time, and generates estimated taxi times for aircraft moving between gates and runways.
  • The transmitter transfers the estimated taxi times to the aircraft and a control center.

Potential Applications: - Air traffic management systems - Airport operations optimization - Ground traffic control for aircraft

Problems Solved: - Reducing congestion and delays on the ground at airports - Improving efficiency in aircraft movement between gates and runways

Benefits: - Enhanced safety by reducing the risk of ground collisions - Increased operational efficiency for airlines and airports - Improved passenger experience through reduced wait times

Commercial Applications: Title: "Ground Traffic Management System for Airports" This technology could be utilized by airport authorities, airlines, and air traffic control agencies to streamline ground operations, enhance safety, and improve overall efficiency in air traffic management.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this system contribute to overall airport efficiency? - This system helps optimize aircraft movement on the ground, reducing congestion and delays, ultimately improving the overall efficiency of airport operations. 2. What are the potential cost savings associated with implementing this technology? - By reducing taxi times and improving traffic flow, airlines can save on fuel costs and operational expenses, while airports can increase throughput and revenue.

Original Abstract Submitted

A system for aircraft congestion reduction on a ground at an airport includes a database, a computer, and a transmitter. The database is operational to store collected data gathered over at least a year at the airport. The computer is in communication with the database and is operational to train a machine learning model using the collected data, receive input data approximate a current time, and generate at the current time, based on the input data, the machine learning model, and a plurality of current aircraft, an estimated taxi time for a particular aircraft to move between an assigned gate and an assigned runway via an assigned route along the taxiways. The transmitter is in communication with the computer and is operational to transfer the estimated taxi time to the particular aircraft and a control center.
