RADIO (NR) MULTICAST FEEDBACK SWITCHING - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18157222 titled 'RADIO (NR) MULTICAST FEEDBACK SWITCHING
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a wireless communication system and method for multicast communications. It introduces a feedback mechanism called acknowledgement/negative-acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) for efficient communication.
- The system involves a first user equipment (UE) and a base station (BS).
- The UE receives a multicast feedback configuration from the BS, which includes two resource configurations.
- The first resource configuration is for negative-acknowledgement (NACK) feedback mode, and the second resource configuration is for acknowledgement/negative-acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) feedback mode.
- The UE receives a first multicast communication from the BS.
- Based on the first resource configuration, the UE transmits a NACK feedback to the BS for the first multicast communication.
- The UE then receives a second multicast communication from the BS.
- Depending on the second resource configuration, the UE transmits either an ACK feedback or a NACK feedback to the BS for the second multicast communication.
Potential Applications
- This technology can be applied in various wireless communication systems, such as cellular networks, Wi-Fi networks, and satellite communications.
- It can be used in scenarios where multicast communications are required, such as broadcasting information to multiple users simultaneously.
Problems Solved
- The patent addresses the need for efficient feedback mechanisms in multicast communications.
- It solves the problem of managing feedback for multiple multicast communications by providing different resource configurations for NACK and ACK/NACK feedback modes.
Benefits
- The use of ACK/NACK feedback modes allows for more efficient and reliable multicast communications.
- By providing separate resource configurations, the system optimizes the feedback process for different types of multicast communications.
- This technology improves the overall performance and reliability of multicast communication systems.
Original Abstract Submitted
Wireless communications systems and methods related to acknowledgement/negative-acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) feedback operations for multicast communications are provided. A first user equipment (UE) receives, from a base station (BS), a multicast feedback configuration indicating a first resource configuration for a negative-acknowledgement (NACK) feedback mode; and a second resource configuration for an acknowledgement/negative-acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) feedback mode. The first UE receives, from the BS, a first multicast communication. The first UE transmits, to the BS, a NACK feedback for the first multicast communication based on the first resource configuration. The first UE receives, from the BS, a second multicast communication. The first UE transmits, to the BS, an ACK feedback or a NACK feedback for the second multicast communication based on the second resource configuration.
