BRAKING CONTROL DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18157050 titled 'BRAKING CONTROL DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a braking control device for a host vehicle. When the host vehicle is stopped at an intersection due to automatic emergency braking and an oncoming vehicle is approaching, the device prohibits secondary braking, flashes a hazard lamp, and prohibits idling stop. When it is determined that it is safe for the vehicle to start moving, the device releases stop maintenance braking.

  • The device controls the braking of a host vehicle in specific situations.
  • It prohibits secondary braking, flashes hazard lamps, and prohibits idling stop when the host vehicle is stopped in an intersection and an oncoming vehicle is approaching.
  • It releases stop maintenance braking when it is determined safe for the vehicle to start moving.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied to various types of vehicles, such as cars, trucks, and buses.
  • It can be used in autonomous vehicles to enhance safety and control braking in specific scenarios.

Problems Solved

  • The device addresses the issue of potential collisions at intersections when a host vehicle is stopped and an oncoming vehicle is approaching.
  • It prevents secondary braking, which could lead to accidents or confusion in such situations.
  • It ensures that the host vehicle does not idle stop, maintaining readiness to move when necessary.

Benefits

  • Improved safety at intersections by prohibiting secondary braking and flashing hazard lamps.
  • Enhanced control over braking in specific scenarios, reducing the risk of accidents.
  • Efficient release of stop maintenance braking when it is determined safe for the vehicle to start moving.

Original Abstract Submitted

A braking control device for controlling braking of a host vehicle. For a state in which a host vehicle is stopped in an intersection by automatic emergency braking and an oncoming vehicle is approaching in an oncoming lane, the host vehicle prohibits secondary braking is prohibited in, flashes a hazard lamp, and prohibits an idling stop. For a state in which it is determined in that the vehicle is stopped and it is determined in that it is safe for the vehicle to start moving, the host vehicle releases stop maintenance braking.
