ADAPTATION OF PREDETERMINED BEAM SWITCHING - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18156567 titled 'ADAPTATION OF PREDETERMINED BEAM SWITCHING
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications. It focuses on modifying communications when beam pair links (BPLs) experience decreased link quality.
- The controlling wireless device communicates with a secondary wireless device using a set of BPLs.
- Both devices cycle through the set of BPLs at different times during a communication time period.
- If one or more BPLs have decreased link quality, the controlling wireless device transmits a configuration to modify the communications.
- The modified communications may involve replacing the low-quality BPLs with different BPLs that have better link quality.
- Alternatively, the modified communications may include using repeated transmissions during the affected portion of the communication time period.
- The BPLs experiencing decreased link quality can also be excluded from the communication time period.
Potential Applications
- Wireless communication systems
- Mobile devices
- Internet of Things (IoT) devices
- Satellite communication systems
Problems Solved
- Decreased link quality in wireless communications
- Maintaining reliable and efficient communication between devices
- Adapting to changing conditions in wireless networks
Benefits
- Improved communication reliability and quality
- Enhanced performance in wireless networks
- Efficient utilization of available resources
- Seamless adaptation to changing network conditions
Original Abstract Submitted
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Communications by wireless devices may be modified when beam pair links (BPLs) experience decreased link quality. For example, a controlling wireless device may communicate with a secondary wireless device using a set of BPLs. The controlling and secondary wireless device may each cycle through the set of BPLs at respective times of a communication time period. Upon detecting one or more BPLs having a decreased link quality during a portion of the communication time period, the controlling wireless device may transmit a configuration modifying the communications. For instance, the modified communications may include replacing the one or more BPLs with different BPLs having a relatively higher link quality. In other cases, the modified communications may include using repeated transmissions during the portion of the communication time period or excluding the BPLs experiencing decreased link quality from the communication time period.
