AUTOMATIC SIDELINK RESOURCE GRANT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18151853 titled 'AUTOMATIC SIDELINK RESOURCE GRANT

The abstract of this patent application discusses a wireless communication system where a first user equipment (UE) receives downlink control information (DCI) indicating multiple sidelink resources for communication with another UE.

  • The DCI includes a first sidelink resource for transmitting a sidelink communication and a second sidelink resource for retransmitting the communication after a negative acknowledgment (NACK).
  • The UE can transmit the sidelink communication to the other UE using any of the multiple sidelink resources provided.
  • This innovation allows for efficient communication between UEs by utilizing different resources for initial transmission and retransmission.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in various wireless communication systems, especially in scenarios where reliable and efficient communication between user equipment is crucial.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the challenge of ensuring reliable communication between UEs by providing dedicated resources for initial transmission and retransmission of data.

Benefits: The use of multiple sidelink resources for communication enhances the reliability and efficiency of data transmission between UEs, leading to improved overall network performance.

Commercial Applications: This technology could be valuable in industries that rely on wireless communication systems, such as telecommunications, IoT devices, and smart city infrastructure.

Questions about Wireless Communication: 1. How does this technology improve the reliability of communication between user equipment? This technology enhances reliability by providing dedicated resources for initial transmission and retransmission of data, ensuring that communication is successful even after a negative acknowledgment.

2. What are the potential applications of this innovation in the telecommunications industry? This innovation can be applied in various wireless communication systems to improve the efficiency and reliability of data transmission between user equipment.

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a first user equipment (UE) may receive downlink control information (DCI) from a network entity, wherein the DCI indicates multiple sidelink resources including a first sidelink resource and a second sidelink resource, wherein the first sidelink resource is for transmission of a sidelink communication to a second UE and wherein the second sidelink resource is for retransmission of the sidelink communication after a negative acknowledgment (NACK) of the sidelink communication on the first sidelink resource. The UE may transmit the sidelink communication to the second UE on at least one of the multiple sidelink resources. Numerous other aspects are described.
