ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DISPLAYING IMAGE BASED ON INTERACTION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18144132 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DISPLAYING IMAGE BASED ON INTERACTION

Simplified Explanation

An electronic device is described that can receive a shooting input while displaying a preview image based on images obtained through a camera with a first field-of-view (FoV). In response to the shooting input, the device obtains a video of the first FoV through the camera. While obtaining the video, the device identifies a visual object included in the preview image. If the user selects the visual object, the device displays the preview image based on a second FoV that includes the visual object and is part of the first FoV. The device also obtains meta data indicating reproduction of the video based on the second FoV corresponding to the user's selection.

  • The electronic device can display a preview image while capturing a video through a camera.
  • The device can identify and select a visual object within the preview image.
  • The device can display the preview image based on a second FoV that includes the selected visual object.
  • The device can obtain meta data associated with the video based on the second FoV.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Photography and videography: Users can preview and select specific objects or areas within the camera's field-of-view before capturing a video.
  • Augmented reality: The device can overlay additional information or graphics on the preview image based on the selected visual object.
  • Surveillance and security: The technology can be used to monitor specific areas or objects within a camera's FoV.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient selection: Users can easily select specific visual objects within the camera's FoV without the need for complex manual adjustments.
  • Enhanced previewing: The preview image can be displayed based on a second FoV that includes the selected visual object, providing a more accurate representation of the final captured video.
  • Improved user experience: Users can have more control and flexibility in capturing videos by selecting and previewing specific areas or objects of interest.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Time-saving: Users can quickly and accurately select visual objects within the camera's FoV without the need for trial and error.
  • Improved accuracy: The preview image based on the second FoV allows users to precisely frame and capture the desired visual object.
  • Enhanced creativity: Users can experiment with different compositions and perspectives by selecting and previewing specific visual objects within the camera's FoV.

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic device receives a shooting input while displaying a preview image based on at least a portion of images obtained through a camera having a first field-of-view (FoV). The electronic device obtains a video of the first FoV through the camera, in response to the shooting input. The electronic device identifies a visual object included in the preview image, while obtaining the video. The electronic device displays the preview image, based on a second FoV that includes the visual object, and is included in the first FoV, in response to an input indicating selection of the visual object. The electronic device obtains meta data indicating reproduction of the video based on the second FoV corresponding to the input, among the first FoV and the second FoV, where the meta data is associated with the video obtained based on the first FoV.
