LATCH MECHANISM OPENING/CLOSING DETECTION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18137072 titled 'LATCH MECHANISM OPENING/CLOSING DETECTION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The latch mechanism opening and closing detection system described in the patent application includes a claw, a pole member, and a full-lock detection switch. The claw is pushed by a striker and rotates in a fastening direction. The pole member contacts the claw and rotates in an interlocked manner, limiting the rotation of the claw in an unfastening direction. The full-lock detection switch is manipulated by the claw and the pole member to detect when the claw is fully fastened to the striker.

  • Claw pushed by striker and rotates in fastening direction
  • Pole member interlocked with claw to limit rotation in unfastening direction
  • Full-lock detection switch detects fully fastened state

Potential Applications

The latch mechanism opening and closing detection system can be used in various door systems, cabinets, and other applications where accurate detection of the open and closed state is necessary.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of accurately detecting the open and closed state of a door or other object, ensuring proper security and functionality.

Benefits

The system provides reliable detection of the latch state, improving security and convenience for users.

Potential Commercial Applications

The latch mechanism system can be utilized in residential and commercial doors, cabinets, and other access control systems.

Possible Prior Art

There may be existing latch mechanisms with detection systems, but the specific design and interlocking mechanism described in this patent application may be unique.

Unanswered Questions

How does this latch mechanism compare to existing door detection systems on the market?

The article does not provide a direct comparison to existing door detection systems, so it is unclear how this technology differs or improves upon current solutions.

What materials are used in the construction of the latch mechanism system?

The article does not specify the materials used in the construction of the latch mechanism system, leaving a potential gap in understanding the durability and longevity of the system.

Original Abstract Submitted

A latch mechanism opening and closing detection system for accurately detecting the open and closed state of a door including a claw configured to be pushed by a striker and rotated in a fastening direction; a pole member configured to contact the claw and rotate in an interlocked manner such that the claw engages at a half-lock point corresponding to a middle portion of a rotation range of the claw and at a full-lock point corresponding to an end portion of the rotation range, thereby limiting rotation of the claw in an unfastening direction; and a full-lock detection switch configured not to be manipulated at the half-lock point and configured to be switching-manipulated at the full-lock point by the claw and the pole member, thereby detecting a state in which the claw is fully fastened to the striker.
