Original Abstract Submitted

A method, a system, and computer program product for automated batch sizing for optimizing background jobs based on background job history data. A background job type of a background job scheduled to be executed, as a plurality of batches, by a plurality of servers, is identified. Background job history data for the background job type is retrieved. A batch size of the plurality of batches for an execution of the background job is determined using the background job history data corresponding to the background job type. The batch size of the plurality of batches is optimized based on one or more background job characteristics. An execution of the background job by the plurality of servers is controlled.
