CARTRIDGE AND ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18106584 titled 'CARTRIDGE AND ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a cartridge structure for an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The structure includes an inclinable coupling member that engages with a rotational force transmitting portion of the apparatus. However, there is an issue when the mounting and dismounting direction is different from the developing/spacing direction of the apparatus. To address this, a coupling lever and a coupling spring are provided. The lever contacts and retracts relative to the coupling member during the mounting and dismounting operation of a developing cartridge, while the spring applies an urging force to the coupling member.

  • The cartridge structure employs an inclinable coupling member.
  • The coupling member engages with a rotational force transmitting portion of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus.
  • The structure addresses the issue of the coupling member being unable to engage when the mounting and dismounting direction is different from the developing/spacing direction.
  • A coupling lever is provided to contact and retract relative to the coupling member during the mounting and dismounting operation of a developing cartridge.
  • A coupling spring applies an urging force to the coupling member.

Potential Applications

  • Electrophotographic image forming apparatus
  • Cartridge structures for various imaging devices

Problems Solved

  • Inability of the coupling member to engage with the rotational force transmitting portion when the mounting and dismounting direction is different from the developing/spacing direction.

Benefits

  • Improved functionality and compatibility of cartridge structures.
  • Simplified mounting and dismounting operation.
  • Enhanced reliability and stability of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus.

Original Abstract Submitted

In a cartridge structure employing an inclinable coupling member engaging with a rotational force transmitting portion of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, the coupling member is unable to engage with the rotational force transmitting portion of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus when the mounting and dismounting direction and the developing/spacing direction relative to the electrophotographic image forming apparatus of different from each other. Under the circumstances, a coupling lever contacting and retracting relative to the coupling member in interrelation with the mounting and dismounting operation of a developing cartridge B, and a coupling spring for the coupling lever to apply an urging force to the coupling member are provided.
