Simplified Explanation: This patent application describes a system and method for managing system wake events in an information handling system (IHS) within a multi-user environment. The system improves security by monitoring user presence and waking the system in a secure or non-secured mode based on the users present.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Monitoring user presence within the field of view during a system wake event
  • Waking the IHS in a secure or non-secured operating mode based on user presence
  • Enhancing system security within a multi-user environment

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in various multi-user environments such as offices, schools, and public spaces where security of information handling systems is crucial.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the issue of unauthorized access to information handling systems in multi-user environments, enhancing overall system security.

Benefits:

  • Improved system security
  • Enhanced user privacy
  • Efficient management of system wake events

Commercial Applications: The technology can be utilized in corporate offices, educational institutions, and government facilities to ensure secure access to information handling systems in multi-user settings.

Prior Art: Prior art related to this technology may include research on user presence detection systems and secure wake event management in information handling systems.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers may be exploring advancements in user presence detection technology and secure wake event management systems for information handling systems.

Questions about System Wake Event Management: 1. How does this technology improve system security in multi-user environments? 2. What are the potential applications of this system wake event management technology in different industries?

Original Abstract Submitted

Embodiments of systems and methods are provided for managing system wake events within an information handling system (IHS) located in a multi-user environment. In some embodiments, the systems and methods disclosed herein improve system security within an IHS located within a multi-user environment by: (a) monitoring user presence of one or more users present within a field of view (FOV) of the IHS during a system wake event, and (b) waking the IHS in a secure operating mode or a non-secured operating mode, based on the user(s) present with the FOV during the system wake event.
