CONDITIONS FOR ENABLING A DO NOT DISTURB WHILE DRIVING MODE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18068423 titled 'CONDITIONS FOR ENABLING A DO NOT DISTURB WHILE DRIVING MODE

The abstract describes a patent application for techniques in wireless communication where a user equipment (UE) receives sensor data from a wearable device associated with a user, determines if the user is driving a vehicle based on the sensor data, and activates a Do Not Disturb While Driving mode on the UE.

  • User equipment (UE) receives sensor data from a wearable device
  • Determines if the user is driving a vehicle based on the sensor data
  • Activates a Do Not Disturb While Driving mode on the UE

Potential Applications: - Enhancing road safety by reducing distractions for drivers - Improving focus and attention while driving - Preventing accidents caused by distracted driving

Problems Solved: - Minimizing distractions for drivers - Promoting safe driving habits - Enhancing overall road safety

Benefits: - Increased safety for drivers and other road users - Reduced risk of accidents due to distracted driving - Improved focus and concentration while driving

Commercial Applications: Title: "Smart Driving Assistant Technology for Safer Roads" This technology can be utilized by automotive companies, insurance providers, and mobile device manufacturers to enhance driver safety and promote responsible driving habits. It can also be integrated into smart car systems to provide real-time alerts and notifications to drivers.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this technology differentiate between driving and other activities? 2. What are the potential privacy concerns associated with collecting and analyzing sensor data from wearable devices?

Original Abstract Submitted

Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) receives sensor data from a wearable device associated with a user of the UE, determines that the user is driving a vehicle based on the sensor data, and enables a Do Not Disturb While Driving mode of the UE based on the determination that the user is driving the vehicle.
