ADAPTIVELY DISABLING RE-TRANSMISSION BASED ON EXPERIENCED DELAY - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18066256 titled 'ADAPTIVELY DISABLING RE-TRANSMISSION BASED ON EXPERIENCED DELAY

The patent application describes an apparatus that can identify when a characteristic time associated with a transmission exceeds a threshold time and disable retransmission capabilities based on this identification.

  • The apparatus can be a user equipment (UE) or a network node.
  • It can identify characteristic times associated with uplink (UL) or downlink (DL) transmissions.
  • If the characteristic time exceeds a threshold, the retransmission capability is disabled.

Potential Applications:

  • This technology can be used in wireless communication systems to improve efficiency.
  • It can help optimize network resources by preventing unnecessary retransmissions.

Problems Solved:

  • Prevents unnecessary retransmissions that can lead to network congestion.
  • Improves overall network performance by disabling retransmission when not needed.

Benefits:

  • Enhances the reliability and efficiency of wireless communication systems.
  • Reduces network congestion and improves overall user experience.

Commercial Applications:

  • This technology can be valuable for telecommunications companies looking to enhance their network performance.
  • It can be integrated into various wireless communication devices to improve their reliability.

Questions about the Technology: 1. How does this technology impact the overall performance of wireless communication systems? 2. What are the potential cost savings for network operators by implementing this technology?

Frequently Updated Research: There may be ongoing research in the field of wireless communication systems to further optimize retransmission strategies and improve network efficiency.

Original Abstract Submitted

An apparatus that may be a user equipment (UE) configured to identify that at least one characteristic time associated with a first uplink (UL) transmission is greater than a threshold time and to disable, based on the at least one characteristic time with the first UL transmission being greater than the threshold time, a retransmission capability. In some aspects, the apparatus may be a network node configured to identify that at least one characteristic time associated with a first downlink (DL) transmission is greater than a threshold time and to disable, based on the at least one characteristic time with the first DL transmission being greater than the threshold time, a retransmission capability.
