SCANNING SYSTEM AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18064195 titled 'SCANNING SYSTEM AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a control method for a scanning system that reduces the load on an information processing apparatus when transmitting scanned data to a cloud server that requires an access token. Here are the key points:

  • The information processing apparatus acquires an access token from an authorization server.
  • The information processing apparatus transmits the access token and the address of a cloud server in the first transmission.
  • The image forming apparatus receives the address and access token transmitted in the first transmission.
  • The image forming apparatus scans a document based on the received address and access token.
  • The image forming apparatus transmits the image data generated by scanning the document and the access token to the cloud server in the second transmission.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Document scanning systems that require access tokens for cloud server integration.
  • Information processing apparatuses that need to transmit scanned data to a cloud server securely.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Reduces the load on the information processing apparatus by offloading the scanning and transmission tasks to the image forming apparatus.
  • Provides a secure method for transmitting scanned data to a cloud server by using access tokens.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Efficient utilization of resources by distributing the workload between the information processing apparatus and the image forming apparatus.
  • Enhanced security by using access tokens for authentication and authorization.
  • Simplified integration of scanning systems with cloud servers requiring access tokens.

Original Abstract Submitted

A control method for a scanning system that reduces load on an information processing apparatus when transmitting scanned data to a cloud server requiring an access token is provided. The control method includes acquiring, by an information processing apparatus, an access token from an authorization server, transmitting, by the information processing apparatus, the access token and an address of a cloud server in a first transmission, receiving, by an image forming apparatus, the address and the access token transmitted in the first transmission, scanning, by the image forming apparatus, a document based on the reception of the address and the access token, and transmitting, by the image forming apparatus, the image data generated by scanning the document and the access token to the cloud server in a second transmission.
