SELF-ALIGNMENT SYSTEMS FOR STACKABLE BATTERIES - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18060490 titled 'SELF-ALIGNMENT SYSTEMS FOR STACKABLE BATTERIES

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a patent application for self-alignment systems for stackable batteries. The apparatus includes a lid and a container to enclose the battery, a first alignment mechanism with a locking member, and an electrical interface for charging or discharging the battery.

  • The apparatus consists of a lid and a container designed to enclose a battery.
  • A first alignment mechanism with a locking member ensures proper alignment when stacked with other batteries.
  • An electrical interface allows the battery to be charged or discharged by an associated device.

Potential Applications

The technology can be applied in various electronic devices that use stackable batteries, such as power tools, portable electronics, and electric vehicles.

Problems Solved

1. Ensures proper alignment of stackable batteries, preventing misalignment issues during charging or discharging. 2. Simplifies the stacking process, making it easier to replace or add batteries in a stack.

Benefits

1. Improved efficiency in charging and discharging stackable batteries. 2. Enhanced safety by preventing misalignment-related accidents. 3. Simplified battery replacement and maintenance.

Potential Commercial Applications

Possible Prior Art

There may be prior art related to battery alignment systems in electronic devices, but specific examples are not provided in this patent application.

Unanswered Questions

How does the first alignment mechanism ensure proper alignment of the stackable batteries?

The first alignment mechanism likely uses a locking member that engages with an alignment receiver on another stackable battery assembly to ensure precise alignment.

What materials are used in the construction of the lid and container to enclose the battery?

The materials used in the construction of the lid and container are not specified in the abstract. It would be interesting to know if any specific materials are chosen for durability or weight considerations.

Original Abstract Submitted

Self-alignment systems for stackable batteries are disclosed herein. An example apparatus can include a lid and a container that is configured to receive and retain a battery, the lid and container being configured to enclose the battery, a first alignment mechanism positioned on a surface of the lid or the container, the first alignment mechanism having a first locking member that engages with an alignment receiver of another stackable battery assembly that is stacked with the stackable battery assembly, and an electrical interface in electrical communication with the battery, the electrical interface allowing the battery to be charged or discharged by an associated device.
