VIRTUAL-REALITY-BASED SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18060206 titled 'VIRTUAL-REALITY-BASED SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method, computer system, and computer program product for collaborative software development in mixed reality. This involves rendering a 3D integrated development environment (IDE) within a mixed-reality environment, admitting developers after confirming their credentials, monitoring interactions between developers and the 3D IDE, and updating and displaying changes to the 3D IDE based on these interactions.

  • Rendering a 3D integrated development environment (IDE) within a mixed-reality environment
  • Admitting developers after confirming their credentials
  • Monitoring interactions between developers and the 3D IDE within the mixed-reality environment
  • Updating and displaying changes to the 3D IDE based on these interactions

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in various industries such as software development, architecture, engineering, and design where collaborative work in a mixed-reality environment is beneficial.

Problems Solved

1. Facilitates collaborative software development in a mixed-reality environment. 2. Enhances communication and interaction between developers working on a project.

Benefits

1. Improved collaboration among developers. 2. Real-time visualization and editing of the 3D IDE. 3. Enhanced productivity and efficiency in software development.

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimizing collaborative software development processes in industries such as gaming, virtual reality, augmented reality, and simulation.

Possible Prior Art

There may be prior art related to collaborative software development tools or mixed-reality environments, but specific examples are not provided in the abstract.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology handle version control and conflicts in a collaborative development environment?

The abstract does not mention how the system manages version control and resolves conflicts that may arise when multiple developers are working on the same project simultaneously.

What security measures are in place to protect the intellectual property and sensitive information of developers in the mixed-reality environment?

The abstract does not detail the security protocols or measures implemented to safeguard the data and information shared within the collaborative software development environment.

Original Abstract Submitted

According to one embodiment, a method, computer system, and computer program product for collaborative software development in mixed reality is provided. The present invention may include rendering a three-dimensional integrated development environment (3D IDE) within a mixed-reality environment; responsive to confirming credentials of a plurality of developers, admitting the plurality of developers to the mixed-reality environment; monitoring interactions between the plurality of developers and the 3D IDE within the mixed-reality environment; and responsive to the interactions, updating and displaying changes to the 3D IDE within the mixed-reality environment.
