A method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving, from a network unit, a first configuration indicating time location and frequency location for a network side subband full duplex (SBFD) mode of operation, wherein the time location indicates at least one SBFD symbol or slot (SBFD symbol/slot) format and the frequency location indicates a plurality of downlink and uplink subbands or a plurality of uplink subbands and guard bands and receiving, from the network unit, a second configuration indicating a change from the at least one SBFD symbol/slot format to a different SBFD symbol/slot format.
