SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE AND COMMUNICATION DEVICE COMPRISING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18053241 titled 'SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE AND COMMUNICATION DEVICE COMPRISING THE SAME

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an amplifier that includes multiple amplification circuits, a filter circuit, and a feedback circuit. The amplifier adjusts the voltage of a bias capacitor to correspond to different operational states of the amplifier.

  • The amplifier includes a first amplification circuit and a second amplification circuit controlled by the first amplification circuit.
  • The second amplification circuit generates first and second output signals using first and second amplification transistors.
  • A bias transistor is turned on based on a bias signal to generate the first output signal.
  • A filter circuit, connected to the first amplification transistor and the bias transistor, includes a bias capacitor to generate the bias signal using a first bias voltage.
  • A feedback circuit receives the first and second output signals and outputs a feedback signal that adjusts the average of the output signals to match a reference signal.
  • The filter circuit adjusts the voltage of the bias capacitor to ensure it corresponds to the operational state of the amplifier, whether enabled or disabled.

Potential Applications

  • Audio amplification systems
  • Communication systems
  • Signal processing devices

Problems Solved

  • Maintaining consistent bias voltage in different operational states of the amplifier
  • Ensuring accurate amplification and signal processing

Benefits

  • Improved performance and accuracy of amplification

  • Efficient and reliable operation of the amplifier

Original Abstract Submitted

An amplifier includes a first amplification circuit, a second amplification circuit including first and second amplification transistors controlled by the first amplification circuit to generate first and second output signals and a bias transistor turned on based on a bias signal to generate the first output signal, a filter circuit including a bias capacitor connected to the first amplification transistor and the bias transistor to generate the first bias signal using a first bias voltage, and a feedback circuit configured to receive the first and second output signals and output a feedback signal that adjusts an average of the first and second output signals to correspond to a reference signal, to the first amplifier. The filter circuit adjusts a voltage of the bias capacitor such that a voltage of the bias capacitor when the amplifier is disabled corresponds to a voltage of the bias capacitor when the amplifier is enabled.
