HYDROSTATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18049118 titled 'HYDROSTATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a hydrostatic transmission control system for a tractor that monitors and adjusts the engine and transmission to ensure they are operating within desired ranges for optimal performance.
- Controller monitors inputs for shifting transmission to different range gear
- Determines if engine and hydrostatic transmission are operating within desired ranges based on speed and load
- Commands clutches to ramp up and down to synchronize speeds of engine and transmission
Key Features and Innovation
- Monitoring and adjusting engine and transmission for optimal performance
- Synchronizing speeds of engine and transmission for efficiency
- Controlling clutches to ensure smooth shifting between range gears
Potential Applications
- Agricultural machinery
- Construction equipment
- Industrial vehicles
Problems Solved
- Ensures optimal performance of engine and transmission
- Prevents damage from operating outside desired ranges
- Improves efficiency and productivity of the tractor
Benefits
- Increased performance and efficiency
- Reduced wear and tear on engine and transmission components
- Enhanced control and safety during operation
Commercial Applications
Hydrostatic transmission control systems can be used in various industries such as agriculture, construction, and industrial sectors to improve the performance and efficiency of tractors and other heavy machinery.
Questions about Hydrostatic Transmission Control System
How does the controller determine if the engine and transmission are operating within desired ranges?
The controller uses inputs such as speed and load to assess the performance of the engine and hydrostatic transmission.
What are the benefits of synchronizing the speeds of the engine and transmission?
Synchronizing speeds ensures optimal performance, efficiency, and smooth shifting between range gears.
Original Abstract Submitted
A hydrostatic transmission control system includes a controller that monitors inputs for shifting a transmission of a tractor to a different range gear; determines if an engine on the tractor is operating in a desired and acceptable shift range based on a sensed speed and a load of the engine, and determines if a hydrostatic transmission on the tractor is operating in a desired and acceptable shift range based on a sensed load and a speed of the hydrostatic transmission. If the controller determines the engine and the hydrostatic transmission are operating in the desired and acceptable shift range, the controller commands an oncoming clutch to ramp up and an off going clutch to ramp down, and synchronizes speeds of the engine and the hydrostatic transmission.
