DUAL CURRENT MAGNETIC FIELD SENSOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18047759 titled 'DUAL CURRENT MAGNETIC FIELD SENSOR

The abstract describes a current sensor arrangement that includes two conductor structures carrying currents in different directions and a magnetic field sensor positioned between them to detect the magnetic fields produced by the currents.

  • The first conductor structure carries a first current in a specific direction.
  • The second conductor structure carries a second current in a direction perpendicular to the first.
  • The magnetic field sensor is sensitive to the magnetic fields produced by the currents.
  • The sensor includes two sensor elements, each responsive to a different magnetic field.
  • The conductor structures overlap with the sensor in a third direction perpendicular to the first two directions.

Potential Applications: - Current monitoring in electrical systems - Power distribution systems - Industrial automation

Problems Solved: - Accurate measurement of currents in different directions - Efficient monitoring of power flow

Benefits: - Precise current sensing - Enhanced safety in electrical systems - Improved efficiency in power management

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Current Sensor for Industrial Applications This technology can be used in various industries such as manufacturing, energy, and transportation for accurate current monitoring and control. It can improve operational efficiency and ensure safety in critical systems.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this current sensor arrangement improve upon existing technologies? 2. What are the key advantages of using magnetic field sensors for current measurement?

Original Abstract Submitted

A current sensor arrangement includes a first conductor structure extending in a first direction and configured to carry a first current along the first direction; a second conductor structure extending in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction and configured to carry a second current along the second direction; and a magnetic field sensor arranged between the first conductor structure and the second conductor structure and configured to receive a first magnetic field produced by the first current and a second magnetic field produced by the second current. The first conductor structure and the second conductor structure overlap with the magnetic field sensor in a third direction that is perpendicular to the first and second directions. The magnetic field sensor includes a first sensor element sensitive to the first magnetic field and a second sensor element sensitive to the second magnetic field.
