EXCAVATION POINT IDENTIFICATION DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18033732 titled 'EXCAVATION POINT IDENTIFICATION DEVICE
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes an excavation point identification apparatus that can efficiently carry out excavation even if the shape of the excavation target has changed.
- The apparatus extracts multiple excavation point candidates based on height information at various points of the excavation target.
- It infers the excavation amount for each candidate based on the excavation track of the excavation apparatus.
- The apparatus then selects an excavation point from the candidates based on the inferred excavation amount.
Potential Applications
- Construction industry: This technology can be used in construction projects that require precise excavation, such as building foundations or underground utilities.
- Mining industry: It can be applied in mining operations to accurately identify excavation points for extracting minerals or ores.
- Archaeology: The apparatus can assist archaeologists in identifying excavation points for uncovering historical artifacts or structures.
Problems Solved
- Changing excavation target shape: The apparatus addresses the challenge of efficiently excavating when the shape of the target has changed, ensuring accurate excavation points are identified.
- Time and cost efficiency: By selecting the most suitable excavation point based on inferred excavation amounts, the apparatus helps optimize the excavation process, saving time and reducing costs.
Benefits
- Improved accuracy: The apparatus uses height information and excavation track data to select excavation points, resulting in more precise excavation.
- Time and cost savings: By efficiently identifying excavation points, the apparatus streamlines the excavation process, reducing both time and cost.
- Adaptability: The apparatus can handle changes in the shape of the excavation target, ensuring efficient excavation regardless of variations.
Original Abstract Submitted
Provided is an excavation point identification apparatus which can efficiently carry out excavation even if a shape of an excavation target has changed. An extraction section () extracts, with reference to pieces of height information at a plurality of points of an excavation target to be excavated by an excavation apparatus, a plurality of excavation point candidates each of which is a candidate for an excavation point at which the excavation apparatus starts excavation. An inference section () infers, based on an excavation track of the excavation apparatus, an excavation amount, in which the excavation apparatus carries out excavation, for each of the plurality of excavation point candidates which have been extracted by the extraction section (). A selection section () selects an excavation point from among the plurality of excavation point candidates based on the excavation amount which has been inferred by the inference section ().
