METHOD AND DEVICE FOR QUICK SWITCH FROM DISASTER ROAMING SERVICE TO NORMAL SERVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18015865 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR QUICK SWITCH FROM DISASTER ROAMING SERVICE TO NORMAL SERVICE

The patent application relates to a method for selecting a higher priority PLMN during a disaster situation in a wireless network.

  • Higher priority PLMN selection method during disaster situations in a wireless network.
  • Method involves selecting a higher priority PLMN in a priority order when available, and other non-forbidden PLMN when the higher priority PLMN is unavailable.
  • Registration of MS for disaster roaming service on selected PLMN.
  • Method also includes registering the MS on the selected higher priority PLMN when not registered for the disaster roaming service.

Potential Applications:

  • Emergency communication systems.
  • Disaster management networks.
  • Public safety networks.

Problems Solved:

  • Ensuring reliable communication during disaster situations.
  • Efficient network selection for priority services.

Benefits:

  • Improved communication reliability during emergencies.
  • Enhanced network selection for critical services.

Commercial Applications:

  • Emergency response organizations.
  • Telecommunication companies providing disaster recovery services.

Prior Art:

  • Research on disaster communication systems.
  • Studies on network prioritization during emergencies.

Frequently Updated Research:

  • Ongoing developments in disaster communication technologies.
  • Updates on network prioritization methods for emergency services.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this method improve communication reliability during disasters? 2. What are the key factors considered in selecting a higher priority PLMN during emergency situations?

Original Abstract Submitted

The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. Embodiments herein provide higher priority PLMN selection method during disaster situation in a wireless network () by MS (). In an embodiment, when MS () is registered for the disaster roaming service, the method includes selecting a higher priority PLMN in a priority order when the higher priority PLMN is available in the network and other non-forbidden PLMN when the higher priority PLMN is unavailable in the network, and registering the MS to receive the service in the network on one of the selected higher priority PLMN, and the selected other non-forbidden PLMN. In another embodiment, when the MS is not registered for the disaster roaming service, the method includes selecting a higher priority PLMN in a priority order when the higher priority PLMN is available in network, and registering the MS on the selected higher priority PLMN to receive the service in network.
