OBJECT DETECTION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17963460 titled 'OBJECT DETECTION SYSTEM
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes an object detection system for a vehicle that allows an occupant to customize warning characteristics based on a priority assignment. The system detects objects in the vehicle's external environment, applies the customized warning characteristics, and issues warnings accordingly.
- The system includes a processor and memory for storing instructions.
- The occupant can set a priority assignment for warning characteristics.
- The warning characteristics include a distance threshold.
- The system detects objects outside the vehicle and applies the priority assignment.
- Warnings are issued based on the customized warning characteristics and distance threshold.
Potential Applications
This technology can be applied in:
- Advanced driver assistance systems
- Vehicle safety systems
- Autonomous vehicles
Problems Solved
- Enhances warning systems in vehicles
- Allows customization of warning characteristics
- Improves object detection in the vehicle's external environment
Benefits
- Increased safety for vehicle occupants
- Customizable warning system
- Enhanced object detection capabilities
Potential Commercial Applications
Optimized Warning System for Vehicle Object Detection
Possible Prior Art
No prior art information available.
Unanswered Questions
How does the system prioritize different warning characteristics set by the occupant?
The system prioritizes warning characteristics based on the priority assignment set by the occupant. However, the exact method of prioritization is not specified in the abstract.
What types of objects in the external environment can the system detect and issue warnings for?
The abstract mentions detecting "an object" in the external environment, but it does not specify the range or types of objects that the system can detect and issue warnings for.
Original Abstract Submitted
An object detection system for a vehicle includes a processor and a memory communicably coupled to the processor. The memory stores instructions that when executed by the processor cause the processor to receive a priority assignment set by an occupant of a vehicle. The priority assignment corresponds to a customization of at least one warning characteristic. The at least one warning characteristic includes a distance threshold. The instructions also cause the processor to detect an object in an external environment of the vehicle and apply the priority assignment to the object. The instructions further cause the processor to issue a warning according to the at least one warning characteristic. According to the distance threshold, the warning is issued when a distance from the vehicle to the object meets the distance threshold.
