SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE AND MEMORY SYSTEM INCLUDING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17951567 titled 'SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE AND MEMORY SYSTEM INCLUDING THE SAME
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a memory system that consists of multiple memory devices connected to internal channels and a controller connected to an external channel. An interface circuit is used to convert signals between the internal and external channels.
- The memory system includes multiple memory devices and a controller.
- Each memory device has internal channels for data and control communication.
- The controller has an external channel for data and control communication.
- An interface circuit connects the external channel to the internal channels.
- The interface circuit can serialize data signals from the controller and send them to the internal control channel.
- The interface circuit can parallelize signals from the external control channel and send them to the internal data channel.
Potential applications of this technology:
- Computer systems and servers that require efficient memory communication.
- High-performance computing applications that demand fast data transfer between memory devices and controllers.

- Faster data transfer between memory devices and controllers.
- Reduced complexity in the design of memory systems.
- Improved overall system performance and efficiency.
Original Abstract Submitted
A memory system includes a plurality of memory devices, each connected to internal channels respectively including an internal data channel and an internal control channel, and each configured to perform communication based on a first interface protocol, a controller connected to an external channel including an external data channel and an external control channel and configured to perform communication based on a second interface protocol, and an interface circuit connecting the external channel to each of the internal channels. The interface circuit is configured to perform channel conversion by serializing a parallel data signal received from the controller through the external data channel and outputting the serialized signal to the internal control channel included in a first one of the internal channels, or parallelizing a signal received through the external control channel and outputting the parallelized signal to the internal data channel included in the first one of the internal channels.
