BEAM FAILURE RECOVERY TECHNIQUES - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17950891 titled 'BEAM FAILURE RECOVERY TECHNIQUES

Simplified Explanation

Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications. It introduces a wireless device that can identify a resource for wireless communication, which can be active or inactive depending on the state. If a communication failure occurs, the device can confirm the failure using various techniques. It then transitions the resource to a different state, where it is inactive for wireless communication but active for a communication failure recovery procedure. The device can then perform the recovery procedure using the resource in the second state.

Bullet Points

  • Wireless device identifies a resource for wireless communication.
  • Resource can be active or inactive depending on the state.
  • Communication failure can be confirmed using various techniques.
  • Resource transitions to a different state for communication failure recovery.
  • Recovery procedure is performed using the resource in the second state.

Potential Applications

  • Wireless communication networks
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Mobile devices and smartphones
  • Industrial automation systems
  • Smart home devices

Problems Solved

  • Efficient recovery from communication failures
  • Improved reliability of wireless communication
  • Minimizing downtime and disruptions in communication
  • Simplifying the process of identifying and recovering from failures

Benefits

  • Faster and more reliable recovery from communication failures
  • Enhanced performance and stability of wireless communication
  • Reduced downtime and improved user experience
  • Simplified management of communication resources

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device may identify a resource for wireless communication, the resource being in a first state where the resource is active for wireless communication and is inactive for a communication failure recovery procedure. The wireless device may determine that a communication failure has occurred during a first communication period. In some cases, one or more techniques for confirming the communication failure may be used to verify the failure. The wireless device may transition during a second communication period and based at least in part on the communication failure, the resource to a second state where the resource is inactive for wireless communication and is active for the communication failure recovery procedure. The wireless device may perform the communication failure recovery procedure using the resource transitioned to the second state.
