A method of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system includes receiving, from a base station (BS), a set of higher layer parameters and determining a set of adaptation aspects based on the set of higher layer parameters. The method further includes determining a set of configurations for receiving a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) and receiving the PDCCH based on the set of configurations. The PDCCH carries adaptation indicators including a set of code-points that corresponds values for the set of adaptation aspects, respectively. The method further includes applying the values for the set of adaptation aspects based on the set of code-points included in the adaptation indicators.
