Flexible Navigation and Route Generation - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17928398 titled 'Flexible Navigation and Route Generation

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for navigation based on user requests, locations, and travel times.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Accessing navigation data associated with a user's request.
  • Determining if the request is for a specific location or deferred travel time.
  • Identifying locations and travel times based on the request.
  • Generating output with a time window for the user to travel to the location.

Potential Applications: This technology can be used in GPS navigation systems, ride-sharing apps, delivery services, and logistics companies.

Problems Solved: The technology streamlines the process of providing navigation directions based on user preferences and real-time data.

Benefits: Users can receive more accurate and personalized navigation instructions, leading to improved efficiency and convenience in travel.

Commercial Applications: "Personalized Navigation System for Efficient Travel Planning in GPS Applications"

Prior Art: Prior art related to this technology may include existing GPS navigation systems, location-based services, and route optimization algorithms.

Frequently Updated Research: Research on real-time traffic data integration, machine learning algorithms for route prediction, and user behavior analysis in navigation systems may be relevant to this technology.

Questions about Navigation Technology: 1. How does this technology improve user experience in navigation? 2. What are the potential privacy concerns related to collecting user data for personalized navigation services?

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, devices, and tangible non-transitory computer readable media for navigation are provided. The disclosed technology can include accessing navigation data that includes information associated with a navigation request from a user. Based on the navigation data, a determination of whether the navigation request indicates a specific location or a deferred travel time can be made. Based on the navigation request, one or more locations and one or more travel times associated with fulfilling the navigation request can be determined. The one or more locations can be based on whether the navigation request indicates a specific location. The one or more travel times can be based on whether the navigation request indicates a deferred travel time. Furthermore, output including a time window of the one or more travel times for the user to travel to at least one of the one or more locations can be generated.
