DISPLAY MODULE AND DISPLAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17910951 titled 'DISPLAY MODULE AND DISPLAY APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The display module described in the patent application includes a display panel with a main body region, two bendable regions, and a back region, along with a buffer layer and a stress relief portion. The bendable regions are bent towards the back side of the display panel, and the buffer layer has different elastic moduli in different portions to provide flexibility and support during bending.

  • The display panel has a unique design with bendable regions and a buffer layer for flexibility and support.
  • The stress relief portion helps absorb and release stress during bending processes.

Potential Applications

The technology described in the patent application could be applied in:

  • Flexible displays for electronic devices
  • Wearable technology such as smartwatches or fitness trackers

Problems Solved

This technology addresses issues such as:

  • Ensuring durability and flexibility in bendable displays
  • Preventing damage or malfunction during bending processes

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include:

  • Improved longevity of flexible displays
  • Enhanced user experience with bendable electronic devices

Potential Commercial Applications

The potential commercial applications of this technology could include:

  • Manufacturing of flexible displays for smartphones and tablets
  • Integration into wearable technology products for consumer electronics

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be:

  • Flexible display panels with bendable regions and buffer layers, as seen in some existing electronic devices.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology compare to existing bendable display technologies in terms of durability and flexibility?

The patent application does not provide a direct comparison with existing technologies, so it is unclear how this innovation stacks up against current solutions.

What materials are used in the buffer layer and stress relief portion, and how do they contribute to the overall performance of the display module?

The patent application does not specify the exact materials used in these components or their specific roles in enhancing the functionality of the display module.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display module includes a display panel including a main body region, a first bendable region, a second bendable region and a back region, a buffer layer and a stress relief portion. The first bendable region and the second bendable region are both bent toward the back side of the display panel, and the back region is bent to be disposed opposite to the first bendable region. The buffer layer includes a first buffer portion corresponding to the main body region and a second buffer portion corresponding to the first bendable region, and an elastic modulus of the second buffer portion is less than that of the first buffer portion. The stress relief portion is configured to absorb and release a stress generated during a bending process of the second bendable region of the display panel.
