FILM COMPRISING POLYAMIDE POLYURETHANE LAYER - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17909843 titled 'FILM COMPRISING POLYAMIDE POLYURETHANE LAYER
The multilayer film described in the patent application consists of a first film layer made of an organic polymeric material with an elongation of at least 250%, and a second film layer made of a crosslinked polyurethane containing polymerized units of a polyamide.
- The first film layer has an elongation of at least 250%.
- The second film layer is made of a crosslinked polyurethane with polymerized units of a polyamide.
- In some embodiments, the organic polymeric material of the first film layer is polyurethane.
Potential Applications: - Protective films for surfaces of motor vehicles - Protective films for electronic devices - Protective films for outdoor signage
Problems Solved: - Protecting surfaces from scratches, abrasion, and UV damage - Enhancing the durability and longevity of surfaces - Providing a clear protective layer without compromising aesthetics
Benefits: - Improved surface protection - Increased durability and longevity of surfaces - Enhanced aesthetic appeal with a clear protective layer
Commercial Applications: Title: Multilayer Protective Films for Various Applications This technology can be used in the automotive industry, electronics industry, and signage industry for protecting surfaces from damage and enhancing their longevity.
Questions about Multilayer Protective Films: 1. How does the elongation of the first film layer contribute to the effectiveness of the protective film? - The elongation of the first film layer allows the film to stretch and conform to different surfaces, providing better coverage and protection.
2. What are the advantages of using a crosslinked polyurethane with polymerized units of a polyamide in the second film layer? - The crosslinked polyurethane with polymerized units of a polyamide offers enhanced durability and resistance to wear and tear, making the protective film more effective in protecting surfaces.
Original Abstract Submitted
A multilayer film is described comprising a first film layer comprising an organic polymeric material, wherein the first film layer has an elongation of at least 250%; and a second film layer comprising a crosslinked polyurethane wherein the polyurethane comprises polymerized units of a polyamide. In some embodiments, the organic polymeric material of the first film layer comprises polyurethane. Also described is a method of protecting a surface of a motor vehicle and a method of making a multilayer protective film.
