INDICATION OF SIMULTANEOUS RX BEAMS CAPABILITY AND RELATED MEASUREMENT RESOURCE COORDINATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17905289 titled 'INDICATION OF SIMULTANEOUS RX BEAMS CAPABILITY AND RELATED MEASUREMENT RESOURCE COORDINATION

The patent application is about a system that enables a user equipment (UE) to perform measurements on multiple carriers simultaneously using multiple receive (RX) beams. This system allows the UE to efficiently allocate measurement resources based on its capability to receive multiple RX beams at the same time.

  • UE receives a measurement configuration from a base station for performing measurements on one or more carriers.
  • UE assigns measurement resources, such as searchers and RX beams, to the carriers based on its simultaneous RX beams capability.
  • UE determines a measurement period scaling factor for the carriers based on the assigned resources.
  • This capability allows the UE to complete measurements faster and transmit measurement reports to the base station earlier.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in wireless communication systems to improve the efficiency of measurement processes. - It can enhance the performance of UE devices in multi-carrier environments.

Problems Solved: - Efficient allocation of measurement resources in a multi-carrier system. - Faster completion of measurements and reporting to the base station.

Benefits: - Improved measurement efficiency. - Reduced latency in reporting measurement results. - Enhanced overall performance of UE devices in complex network scenarios.

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Measurement Capability for Wireless Communication Systems This technology can be utilized by telecommunications companies to optimize network performance and enhance user experience. It can also be integrated into UE devices to improve their functionality in diverse network environments.

Prior Art: Prior research in the field of wireless communication systems may provide insights into similar technologies or approaches to optimizing measurement processes in multi-carrier systems.

Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on advancements in multi-carrier communication systems and measurement techniques to leverage the latest innovations in the field.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the simultaneous RX beams capability of the UE improve measurement efficiency? 2. What are the key factors influencing the allocation of measurement resources in this system?

Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure is related to indication of simultaneous RX beams capability and related measurement resource coordination. In an embodiment, a UE is configured to receive, from a base station, a measurement configuration comprising a measurement period for performing measurements on one or more carriers. The UE is further configured to assign measurement resources to the one or more carriers based on a simultaneous RX beams capability, wherein the measurement resources comprise searchers and RX beams during each measurement occasion. The UE is further configured to determine a measurement period scaling factor for the one or more carriers based on the assigned resources. With this capability, the UE can complete L1 and/or L3 measurements and transmit a measurement report to the base station earlier.
