APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING VEHICLE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17879168 titled 'APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING VEHICLE
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes an apparatus and method for controlling a vehicle by accurately determining wheel slip based on the friction of the road surface. The system includes a driveshaft, a sensor to measure vehicle speed, and a controller.
- The driveshaft transmits drive torque from the motor to the wheel.
- The sensor measures the speed of the vehicle.
- The controller monitors the drive torque and determines the change amount of the torque.
- Based on the change amount of the drive torque, the controller calculates the change in the torsion angle of the driveshaft.
- The controller then determines whether wheel slip occurs by analyzing the speed change of the drive motor according to the change in the torsion angle of the driveshaft.
Potential applications of this technology:
- Automotive industry: This technology can be implemented in vehicles to improve traction control systems and enhance overall driving safety.
- Racing industry: The system can be used in high-performance vehicles to optimize power delivery and prevent wheel slip during acceleration or cornering.
Problems solved by this technology:
- Accurate determination of wheel slip: The system provides a precise method to detect wheel slip based on the change in the torsion angle of the driveshaft, allowing for more effective traction control.
- Safe driving: By accurately detecting wheel slip, the system can provide timely interventions to prevent loss of control and improve overall driving safety.
Benefits of this technology:
- Enhanced traction control: The system allows for more accurate detection of wheel slip, enabling better control of the vehicle's power delivery and traction.
- Improved driving safety: By accurately detecting and preventing wheel slip, the system helps to prevent accidents and improve overall driving safety.
Original Abstract Submitted
An apparatus and a method for controlling a vehicle includes a driveshaft that transmits a drive torque generated by a drive motor to a wheel, a sensor that obtains a speed of the vehicle, and a controller that monitors the drive torque to determine a change amount of the drive torque, determines a change in a torsion angle of the driveshaft based on the change amount of the drive torque, and determines whether wheel slip occurs based on an amount of speed change of the drive motor according to the change in the torsion angle of the driveshaft. Accordingly, it is possible to accurately determine wheel slip according to the friction of a road surface, providing safe driving to the driver.
